The Lumina Cell is an active cell of the Seraphic Inquisition, based in Lighthaven and operating under the direct authority of Sir Althorn Lightbearer. It is the cell to which the current party belongs.
Formation
The Lumina Cell was assembled by Sir Althorn Lightbearer from personnel drawn across the Luminous Conclave — some recruited directly, others transferred from other postings. When the Lux Veritatis cell was subsequently destroyed, Carver, its sole survivor, was reassigned to the Lumina Cell rather than placed elsewhere.
The cell conducted its first joint mission shortly after coming together, investigating the corruption of Brightwater's water supply — an incident that would prove to be only the first thread in a much larger tapestry.
Members
Each member maintains a cover identity within one of the Luminous Conclave's Five Pillars.
A Changeling inquisitor and the cell's primary infiltrator. Operates under cover as a Clerk Superior within the Radiant Chancellery. Wields Dominus, a sentient pact blade that forged a warlock bond with him against his will. His origins and the full nature of that bond remain threads he has not yet fully unravelled.
An Aasimar bard of considerable eloquence. Raised in Lythor by a university professor after being abandoned as an infant, he was later sent to the Luminous Conclave explicitly to become an Inquisitor. Operates under cover as a Seeker within the Scholarium of Radiant Truth. Experiences recurring prophetic dreams of celestial origin. Wields the Violin of Hidden Truths, an artifact of significant power.
A Kenku warlock whose celestial patron, Zarethiel, shelters within him in a diminished state — a fact unknown to Carver himself. The sole survivor of the destroyed Lux Veritatis cell. Operates under cover as a Tender within the Covenant of Mercy. Bears a permanent scar on his arm from Nocturne, received during the Banquet of Mount Ironcrest. Carries the Starfeather Mantle.
A Drow paladin of Glory and the cell's most recent addition, having joined following the departure of previous members. A former Luminous Guard soldier who served at the Sanctum of Purity before being reassigned under circumstances she considers her failure. Operates under her actual former rank of Sentinel-at-Arms within the Guard as cover. Wields Vaelstrom, a powerful artifact greatsword.
Operations
The Lumina Cell has conducted a significant number of operations since its formation, investigating eldritch activity across Eryndor on behalf of Sir Althorn Lightbearer and, through him, the Council of Light.
Major operations have included:
- Brightwater — Investigation and clearance of Deva's Sanctum, corrupted by a Void Shard planted by Lord Erevan Shadowspeaker. The cell's first joint mission.
- Shadowfen and the Dragonspire Mountains — Procurement mission for the alchemist Thalindor, during which the cell encountered Elandrial, a silver dragon, and explored ancient ruins.
- Lythor — Investigation of cult activity beneath the city, including ritual tunnels and the destruction of a Illuminated Void cell operating through the Zum Rattenkönig tavern.
- The Lux Veritatis Common Room — Entry into the sealed quarters of the destroyed Lux Veritatis cell within the Sanctum of Purity, during which a party member was lost to a shadow creature.
- Oasis City — Intelligence operations surrounding the Festival of Shadows, culminating in the recovery of the Cronolithe and the witnessed consumption of the city by The Noctivagor.
- Celestia — Investigation of wild magic anomalies and the confrontation of Lady Innocencia at the Celestial Spire.
- The Ironclad Citadel — Operations in Ironhold and Ironcliff, culminating in attendance at the Banquet of Mount Ironcrest and a direct confrontation with Lord Erevan Shadowspeaker, from which the cell narrowly escaped.
Handler
The cell reports exclusively to Sir Althorn Lightbearer, a senior member of the Council of Light who oversees the Seraphic Inquisition on the Council's behalf. Althorn assigns missions, provides resources, and serves as the cell's sole point of contact with the broader Conclave hierarchy.
