Brightwater is a small town in the Celestial Plains, historically known across the region for the exceptional purity of its water supply, fed by an underground spring known as Deva's Sanctum. For generations the town's water was considered a minor blessing of Seraphel — clear, cold, and said to have mild restorative properties. This reputation made Brightwater a modest pilgrimage destination and a reliable stop for travellers moving through the Plains.
The town holds particular significance for the Lumina Cell, as it was the site of their very first mission together.
Deva's Sanctum
Deva's Sanctum is the underground cave system from which Brightwater's famous spring originates. The cave has long been regarded as a place of quiet spiritual significance, tended by the local chapel and visited by the devout. Within its deepest chamber lies the spring pool that feeds the town's water supply.
During the events that preceded the Lumina Cell's arrival, Lord Erevan Shadowspeaker had secretly infiltrated the Sanctum and planted a void shard within the spring pool. The shard corrupted the water, causing it to turn foul and filling the cave with hostile entities — corrupted water elementals and cave fishers drawn by the eldritch energy. The Lumina Cell investigated and cleared the Sanctum, recovering the void shard and restoring the spring. The town's water has since returned to its former quality.
Notable Locations
The Chapel of Seraphel
Brightwater's modest place of worship, tended at the time of the Lumina Cell's visit by Priestess Seraphine. The chapel served as the party's base of operations during their investigation and was the site of a small celebratory banquet held in their honour following the restoration of the spring.
The Glowing Hearth Inn
The town's primary inn, run by an innkeeper named Lia. Known for its warm hospitality, the inn offered the Lumina Cell discounted lodging during the troubles surrounding the water corruption.
