The Sanctum of Purity is the operational heart of the Luminous Conclave — a heavily restricted complex in Lighthaven that houses the institution's military command, governmental administration, and most sensitive operations. Where the Grand Cathedral of Seraphel is the Conclave's public face, the Sanctum is where it actually functions. Most people in Lighthaven have never set foot inside it, and most never will.
For the Lumina Cell, the Sanctum is home ground. Its corridors, checkpoints, and the particular quality of silence that settles over it at night are as familiar as any place on Eryndor.
Character
The Sanctum is built in the same warm stone as the rest of Lighthaven, but its architecture speaks a different language — functional, imposing, designed for control rather than welcome. Ceilings are high. Corridors are wide enough for Auragon in full plate to move without obstacle. Doorways are reinforced. The golden light of Seraphel's radiant sun symbol appears throughout, but here it feels less like a blessing and more like a reminder of who is watching.
The air smells of incense and cold stone, and beneath it something harder to name — the residue of decades of divine and arcane activity concentrated in one place. Those sensitive to magic describe it as a low hum, barely perceptible, present in the walls.
Auragon Sentinels stand vigil at corridor junctions and doorways throughout the complex, motionless enough to be mistaken for statuary. Guard soldiers from the Luminous Guard patrol the outer areas and man the garrison. The two forces operate in parallel, each answering to their own chain of command.
Known Areas
The Council Chambers
The administrative heart of the Sanctum, where the Council of Light conducts its business. Access is restricted to Council members, their staff, and individuals specifically summoned. The Lumina Cell has attended sessions here on Althorn's authority.
The Garrison
The Luminous Guard's operational base within the Sanctum. Housing, armoury, briefing rooms, and the administrative apparatus of the Guard's command structure for Lighthaven. Rost Zhae'Khaezryn served here during her Sanctum rotation prior to joining the cell.
The Crucible
A sealed wing of the Sanctum dedicated to the training and maintenance of the Auragon Corps. Its exact location within the complex is known to Sanctum personnel, but access is strictly controlled and its interior is not disclosed to outsiders. What Auragon training and maintenance actually involves — what takes place within the Crucible — is not a subject the Conclave discusses. The wing is overseen by Crucible Overseer Theron Ashvale, who reports directly to the Council of Light.
Guard soldiers who have served long enough in the Sanctum have opinions about the Crucible, shared only in low voices when no one important is listening. None of them have been inside either.
The Inquisition Levels
The classified lower levels of the Sanctum house the operational headquarters of the Seraphic Inquisition. Access requires Inquisition clearance. The Lumina Cell operates out of these levels when based in Lighthaven, and the cell quarters for both the Lumina Cell and the former Lux Veritatis cell are located here. The Lux Veritatis common room was sealed following that cell's destruction and remained sealed until the Lumina Cell entered it during one of their early operations.
The Teleportation Circle
A permanent teleportation circle within the Sanctum, used for rapid transit of authorised personnel. The Lumina Cell has made use of this circle on multiple occasions — most recently arriving here directly from Mount Ironcrest following their confrontation with Lord Erevan Shadowspeaker.
Security
The Sanctum is among the most secure locations in Eryndor. Entry requires clearance verified at multiple checkpoints. Auragon Sentinels maintain continuous watch throughout the interior. The Luminous Guard garrison handles outer perimeter security and general patrol. Unsanctioned magic within the complex is detectable — the Sanctum's wards are attuned to flag arcane activity that has not been cleared in advance.
Visitors who arrive without the appropriate authority do not get far.
