The Radiant Sovereign is the supreme authority of the Luminous Conclave — head of faith and head of state simultaneously, and the single individual whose word overrides all other authority within the institution without qualification. The title is not merely ceremonial. The Radiant Sovereign governs Lighthaven as a sovereign ruler, commands the Auragon Corps at the highest priority in the Directive Hierarchy, chairs the Council of Light, and holds final say on all matters temporal and spiritual within the Conclave's domain.

Selection
The Radiant Sovereign is theoretically elected by the Council of Light from among the Conclave's senior membership. In practice, the position is held until death or abdication — no Sovereign has been removed by the Council in recorded history, and the election mechanism exists primarily as a formality for succession. The position carries no fixed term.
Authority
The Sovereign's authority within the Conclave is absolute. No other individual, body, or institution within the organisation can override a direct Sovereign command. Within Lighthaven and its territories, this translates to effective sovereignty — the Sovereign is both the head of the church and the head of state, with canon law serving as the city's legal code.
In the Auragon Directive Hierarchy, the Radiant Sovereign holds Priority 1 — the highest possible authority. An Auragon receiving a direct Sovereign command does not evaluate it for reasonableness or alignment with prior orders. It simply obeys. This makes the Sovereign's personal security one of the Conclave's most critical concerns, and it is why the Sovereign is never without Auragon escort. The current Sovereign's personal bodyguard is Warden Solace, an Exalted Sentinel who has held the position for fourteen years.
Public Role
The Radiant Sovereign is the most visible figure in the Luminous Conclave's public life. It is the Sovereign who addresses the faithful from the Grand Cathedral of Seraphel, presides over the great holy ceremonies, and receives foreign dignitaries. The Sovereign's face is the face of the faith — and by extension, of Seraphel — to most of the people of Eryndor.
