The Celestial Plains are the central region of Eryndor and the political and spiritual heart of the continent. A broad expanse of green plains, gentle rolling hills, small forests, and fertile farmland, the Plains are the most densely populated region on Eryndor and the seat of the Luminous Conclave's power. For most inhabitants of Eryndor, the Celestial Plains are simply what civilisation looks like — orderly, faithful, and watched over by the light of Seraphel.

Geography

The Plains stretch across Eryndor's centre, bordered by the Frostpeak Highlands to the north, the Verdant Vale to the east, and the Sunset Desert to the south. The terrain is predominantly flat to gently rolling, with scattered woodlands and river networks that have made the region exceptionally fertile. The climate is temperate — mild summers, cool winters, and reliable rainfall — conditions that have historically supported large populations and thriving trade.

Settlements

The holy city of the Luminous Conclave and its sovereign enclave, sitting within the Plains but governed entirely by the Conclave rather than the Celestial Concord. Lighthaven is the religious capital of Eryndor and home to the Grand Cathedral of Seraphel. It is one of the most heavily defended locations on the continent.

The largest city of the Celestial Plains and the administrative seat of the Celestial Concord. Celestia is a major centre of commerce, scholarship, and magic. The city is home to the Celestial Spire, a prestigious academy of arcane learning. In recent times the city has experienced significant disruption due to wild magic anomalies caused by interference with its ley line network.

A town historically known for the purity of its waters, fed by an underground spring called Deva's Sanctum. Brightwater was the site of the Lumina Cell's first mission, investigating the corruption of its water supply by a void shard planted by Lord Erevan Shadowspeaker. The town's waters have since been restored, but Brightwater's name carries darker associations for those who know its recent history.

A mid-sized town in the southern Plains, notable for its proximity to the Dragonspire Mountains. The Lumina Cell passed through Shadowfen early in their operations. The town has a modest temple to Seraphel and a reputation for harbouring travellers and scholars with an interest in the region's ancient ruins.

Other Settlements

Starfall and Moonridge are smaller settlements within the Plains, known primarily as agricultural communities and waypoints along the region's road networks.

Politics

The Celestial Plains are governed by the Celestial Concord, a political alliance of the region's major cities and towns. The Concord operates largely in concert with the Luminous Conclave, whose religious and political influence is strongest here. Lighthaven sits outside Concord jurisdiction entirely as a sovereign enclave. The relationship between the Concord and the Conclave is generally cooperative, though the two institutions maintain distinct spheres of authority.

The Dragonspire Mountains

The Dragonspire Mountains form a partial natural border to the east of the Plains, separating the region from the Verdant Vale. The mountains are named for the ancient draconic presence once associated with them, and their ruins and caves have long attracted treasure hunters and scholars alike.
