Pantheon of Eclaryn
The world of Eclaryn is watched over by twenty-two gods across eleven domains of divine power. They are distinct in nature, origin, and temperament, but all genuine powers capable of answering prayer and granting divine gifts to their faithful.
The Light Domain
Seraphel, the Radiant Guardian
Lawful Good
The god of light, righteousness, and celestial vigilance. Seraphel is the patron of the Luminous Conclave and the most widely worshipped deity on Eryndor. His symbol is a radiant sun with twelve elongated rays, each representing one of his twelve virtues: honesty, loyalty, justice, mercy, courage, temperance, devotion, clarity, vigilance, compassion, humility, and sacrifice.
Seraphel's doctrine holds that light is not merely physical — it is moral. To walk in his light is to be honest, to be visible, to refuse the shelter of shadow and compromise. His clergy embody the twelve virtues as daily practice rather than abstract ideals. The central act of worship is the Illumination Ceremony, in which the faithful light candles from a central ever-burning flame, symbolising each believer as a carrier of divine light. His temples are built to maximise natural light — stained glass, high windows, white stone.
Lumara, the Dawnbringer
Neutral Good
The goddess of dawn, renewal, and hope. Lumara's worship predates the Luminous Conclave in many regions, retaining a distinct character — quieter, more contemplative, associated with the first light before the sun fully rises. Her symbol is a crescent sun emerging from the horizon.
Her doctrine holds that every dawn is a promise: darkness ends, wounds can heal, and what was lost may yet be found. Her clergy are particularly active among the sick, the grieving, and the displaced.
The Death Domain
M4* (Messor IV), the Harvester
True Neutral
The god of the moment of death — not death as journey or judgment, but death as event. M4* collects the soul at the instant it separates from the body, without discrimination by virtue, faith, age, or circumstance. It has no organised clergy and no doctrine. It cannot be prayed to and does not answer. Small roadside shrines appear in most cultures, maintained not out of worship but acknowledgment. Its symbol is a circle with a single point at its centre.
Rathivon, the Reckoning
Lawful Neutral
The god of judgment and the weight of a life. Where M4* collects, Rathivon evaluates. The dead pass through his court where every act is considered — not to punish or reward by emotion, but to determine what a life amounted to. He is scrupulously fair and entirely without sentimentality. His symbol is a pair of scales with an open eye above them. His clergy — rare, austere, and deeply serious — serve as judges, mediators, and keepers of oaths.
The Arcana Domain
Mystra, the Weave Incarnate
Neutral Good
The goddess of magic — not a god who controls magic, but one who embodies it. The Weave, through which all arcane spells are cast, is understood by her clergy to be Mystra's body and breath. Her symbol is a circle of interlocking arcane runes. Her clergy are scholars and practitioners who hold that understanding magic is itself a form of worship.
Valtherion, the Unraveler
True Neutral
The god of magic's limits — entropy, the point at which a spell exceeds what the world can contain. His domain is the moment when the Weave frays, when an arcanist overreaches, when power collapses in on itself. His clergy are theorists of magical failure and arbiters of what should not be attempted. His symbol is a broken circle.
The Knowledge Domain
Lethivon, the Open Page
Neutral Good
The god of knowledge freely shared — education, discovery, the belief that understanding is better when it spreads. His doctrine holds that hoarding knowledge is a form of theft from the future. His clergy run libraries, schools, and travelling archives. His symbol is an open book with light rising from its pages.
Veylith, the Sealed Tongue
Lawful Evil
The goddess of knowledge as control — information hoarded, rationed, and weaponised as power. Her clergy maintain restricted archives and administer secrecy oaths, deciding what the world is permitted to know and withholding the rest. Her symbol is a closed book with a lock.
The Life Domain
Thyra, the Pulse Beneath
Neutral Evil
The goddess of biological life in its most ruthless aspect — the drive to exist that does not care what it costs. Thyra is the force that keeps a wounded animal fighting long past mercy, the infection that spreads because spreading is what it does. Her clergy understand that life is not inherently good — only persistent. Her symbol is a heartbeat rendered as a single line.
Verdanna, the Quiet Growth
Neutral Good
The goddess of patient, seasonal life — the slow accumulation of growth over time, the wisdom of cycles. An ascended mortal, Verdanna was a druid whose decades of patient cultivation drew divine attention. Her symbol is a seed with roots and a single leaf.
The Nature Domain
Orryn, the Untamed Root
True Neutral
The god of wild nature — nature as it exists without human permission or management, ungoverned and indifferent to mortal needs. Orryn is not hostile to people, but he has no particular interest in their comfort. His symbol is a tangled root system.
Sylthara, the Green Veil
Neutral Good
The goddess of the boundary between civilisation and wilderness — the managed forest, the negotiation between human settlement and natural world. An ascended mortal, Sylthara spent her life mediating between communities and the land they occupied. Her symbol is a leaf crossed by a path.
The Order Domain
Aethon, the Unblinking Scale
Lawful Neutral
The god of impartial law — the idea that justice exists independently of whoever is administering it. His doctrine holds that the laws of nature and morality exist whether or not mortals acknowledge them, and that civilisation's task is to align itself with what is already true. His symbol is a scale with an eye above it.
Calithra, the Woven City
Lawful Good
The goddess of civilisation and community. An ascended mortal — an architect and city planner of extraordinary vision — Calithra holds that the greatest achievement is the city: a place where strangers can coexist, collaborate, and build something neither could alone. Her symbol is an arch over a hearth.
The Forge Domain
Thaldris, the Hammered Oath
Lawful Good
The god of craft, dedication, and work done right. An ascended mortal — a smith of legendary skill who achieved divinity through the quality and integrity of a lifetime's work. His doctrine holds that every object made with care is a small act of devotion, and that craft poorly done is a form of dishonesty. His symbol is a hammer striking an anvil with a single drop of sweat beside it.
Selvrix, the Spark That Shouldn't
Chaotic Neutral
The god of invention, risk, and the creation that probably should not have been built. Selvrix embodies the drive to make something new that outpaces the wisdom to consider whether it should be made. His followers are artificers, alchemists, and engineers of the reckless variety. His symbol is a gear with a crack through it.
The Tempest Domain
Vaelgor, the Thundering Will
Chaotic Good
The god of storms as exhilaration — the electricity before lightning strikes, the beauty of a gale, the way weather reminds mortals that the world is larger than they are. His followers find joy in storms rather than fear. His symbol is a lightning bolt.
Morrhak, the Drowning Sky
Chaotic Evil
The god of storms as annihilation — the hurricane that levels cities, the flood that does not distinguish. Morrhak does not hate mortals. He simply embodies forces that do not care whether mortals survive them. His clergy tend to be isolated figures who have accepted the storm's indifference entirely. His symbol is a wave cresting over a horizon.
The Trickery Domain
Miravel, the Laughing Mask
Chaotic Good
The god of joyful deception — performance, illusion, the harmless lie told for delight or mercy. His doctrine holds that sometimes a good lie is kinder than a cruel truth, and that the world is richer for theatre than for strict transparency. His symbol is a two-faced theatrical mask.
Nythara, the Unseen Hand
Neutral Evil
The goddess of information as weapon. Nythara does not merely hoard secrets — she deploys them. Every piece of knowledge she holds is a blade waiting for the right moment. An ascended mortal, Nythara was a spymaster of exceptional ability who understood that the person who knows everything controls everyone. Her symbol is an eye with a hand over it.
The War Domain
Korrath, the Iron Vow
Lawful Neutral
The god of disciplined war — strategy, chain of command, the oath that binds a soldier to something larger than themselves. His doctrine holds that war without discipline is not war but slaughter. His clergy serve as military chaplains and oath-keepers. His symbol is a sword driven into the ground with both hands clasped around the hilt.
Ruvaan, the Red Tide
Chaotic Evil
The god of predatory hunger given martial form — not the soldier's discipline, not even the berserker's rage, but something older and simpler: the need to consume, to dominate, to tear. His followers do not worship him so much as recognise themselves in him. His symbol is a crashing wave in red.
