During the party's visit to the Dragonspire Mountains, they encountered Elandrial, a silver dragon who took an interest in the void shard. Elandrial examined the object and attempted to destroy it — but failed. Whatever force binds the shard together proved resistant even to draconic power, which only deepened the sense that it was something far outside the ordinary. The encounter left the party with a clearer appreciation of the shard's unusual resilience, if not any greater understanding of its nature or purpose.

The Void Shard is a dark crystalline object of eldritch origin recovered by the Lumina Cell from Deva's Sanctum near Brightwater. It is a small, black crystal that radiates a faint but unsettling energy — cold to the touch, and seemingly capable of attracting creatures attuned to eldritch forces. Its exact nature, purpose, and origin remain unknown.

Origins
The origins of the Void Shard are unclear. What is known is that Lord Erevan Shadowspeaker personally infiltrated Deva's Sanctum and placed the shard within the sacred spring pool, causing the corruption of Brightwater's water supply. How Shadowspeaker came to possess it, where it was created, and whether it is one of many such objects or something unique — none of these questions have been answered.

History
Recovery from Deva's Sanctum
During their first mission, the Lumina Cell descended into Deva's Sanctum and found the void shard resting at the centre of the corrupted spring pool. After defeating the hostile entities the shard had drawn into the cave, the party recovered it rather than destroying it. Upon returning to Brightwater, Priestess Seraphine visibly recoiled from the object and made clear she wanted nothing to do with it. Sir Althorn Lightbearer, however, encouraged the party to hold onto it, reasoning that it might prove useful in furthering their investigation into the corruption.

The shard was taken into the party's possession. Valerion assumed custody of it.

The Road to Shadowfen
On the journey from Brightwater to Shadowfen, the party's first night on the road was disturbed by a void entity drawn to the shard's presence — suggesting the object actively attracts creatures of eldritch nature. The party fought off the creature, though some members showed subtle behavioural changes in the aftermath. The shard remained with Valerion.

The Dragon's Examination
During the party's visit to the Dragonspire Mountains, they encountered a silver dragon who examined the void shard. The dragon's assessment of the object added to the party's understanding that it was something of genuine eldritch significance, though the full extent of what was learned in that exchange remains with those who were present.

Lost in the Lux Veritatis Common Room
During Session 8, the Lumina Cell entered the sealed common room of the Lux Veritatis cell within the Sanctum of Purity in Lighthaven. The room had been locked since the cell's destruction. Inside, a shadow creature attacked and consumed Valerion, who vanished entirely — along with everything he was carrying, including the void shard.

The current whereabouts of the void shard are unknown. Whether it remains wherever Valerion was taken, was destroyed, or has found its way elsewhere has not been established.
